Spatial solutions

Idox group has long recognised the value of Spatial (map based) information and was the first supplier to embed enterprise level spatial functionality in its Land and Property based solutions.

All of Idox group's Uniform and Acolaid Land and Property modules, as well as the Idox Public Access suite of solutions are spatially enabled. This means that, not only are users able to visualise the location of records and groups of records, but they are also able to run traditional reports based on "how many?" or "how much?" the systems are capable of answering questions like, "where are the most serious problems arising in my area?" or "how is one problem in a particular location affected by one or more related issues?".

Additionally, the ability to visualise records spatially facilitates communication: a map of your area depicting information graphically is much easier to understand and explain than a list of records or numbers.

Idox spatially enabled solutions allow you to automatically or manually produce "buffers" around objects of interest and initiate specific resultant actions such sending a standard letter or highlighting and listing objects (such as properties, addresses, licensees etc) within the buffered zone.

Idox Land and Property solutions store Spatial data and text data within the same relational database thereby providing a single, spatially enabled, land and property database able to serve the whole organisation and founded on a BS7666 address database.

Key benefits of Idox Spatial Solutions

  • Reduces costs by providing "run time" spatial components within the application which are tailored to the business processes for which the solution is designed to deliver and do not require GIS expertise to operate.
  • Spatial information relating to current records is always available thereby providing a simultaneous, graphical view of sometimes complex information.
  • Allows multiple scenarios to be visualised within a simple, map based interface.
  • The ability to report on spatial information provides a significant additional dimension to the way in which information can be provided.
  • Spatial data used within the back-office solutions is used within the Idox Web Publishing solutions - again following the Idox group "capture once" and "use many" philosophy.
  • Use open standards so that it is easy to view Idox Spatial information sourced from other systems and use other spatial systems to view Idox spatial data.
  • Does not rely on importing and exporting of disparate data sets. Access to Idox Spatial data is live from the spatially enabled RDBMS.
