And because textual and spatial data are combined within a single system, it's straightforward to provide information in the form of maps, which are often easier to work with than text records.
Uniform Gazetteer Management System is compliant with parts 1, 2 and 3 of BS 7666 Version 2, and it enables you to handle the standard's terminology, such as ESUs, USRNs and BLPUs, without confusion. But it can also store non-standard addresses, such as PO boxes, that don't comply with BS 7666 but are required by local authorities.
With Gazetteer Management System in place, you can provide enhanced information and services directly to citizens via the web. By integrating your gazetteer with existing website applications, you can let citizens make location-dependent queries such as 'where's my nearest school?', and more accurately specify the location when they report a fault or problem.
